Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 6, 2026

Drift is an audio app for falling asleep to calm stories. We built it to need as little information about you as possible. This policy explains what data is involved when you use the Drift iOS app, why, and what your rights are.

Who we are

Drift is published by Parapply AB (org. nr 559462-4099), Älgkroksvägen 1, 134 63, Sweden. We are the data controller for the processing described here. You can reach us at privacy@driftaudio.app.

The short version

Data that stays on your device

Drift stores your content preferences, home screen settings, playback position and a cache of audio you've listened to on your device. This is never sent to us. It is deleted when you delete the app.

Drift reads your device's motion sensors to create a subtle tilt effect on story artwork. This is processed on the device only and is not stored or transmitted.

Data processed when you use the app

Story requests. When the app loads stories and audio, your device connects to our servers. Like any internet service, those servers see your IP address and the request (for example, which story was opened). The requests contain no account or advertising identifier. Our hosting providers keep technical logs, including IP addresses, for security and troubleshooting, and these are deleted after at most 30 days. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in delivering and securing the service (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)).

Subscriptions. Payments are processed by Apple; we never see your payment details. To know whether you have an active subscription, the app uses RevenueCat, which receives a random app-specific identifier, your purchase and subscription history, and basic device information such as the iOS and app version. Legal basis: performance of the contract with you (GDPR Art. 6(1)(b)).

Who processes data for us

Some providers are based in the United States. Where data leaves the EU/EEA, transfers are covered by the EU–US Data Privacy Framework or the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.

The stories themselves are produced with the help of AI services. Those services only ever receive our own content, never data about you.

We do not

Your rights

Under the GDPR you can request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data, object to or restrict its processing, and request data portability. Because we don't link data to an account, the easiest way to remove what's on your device is to delete the app. For subscription data, contact us at privacy@driftaudio.app and include your RevenueCat or App Store transaction ID if you can.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority, such as the Swedish Authority for Privacy Protection (IMY).

Changes

If we change how Drift handles data, we'll update this page and the date at the top. Significant changes will also be announced in the app.
